Meet your band director, April Ellis!

Mrs. Ellis has been playing music for most of her life. She started with piano in 1st grade, then added clarinet in 5th grade. She went to Jefferson Junior High and Kearns High School, where she enjoyed playing in the marching band, symphonic band, and pit orchestra. Mrs. Ellis earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Utah State University, where her main instrument was clarinet. After college she taught band, orchestra, and general music at Joel P. Jensen Middle School for three years.

Mrs. Ellis keeps active with music by playing in Salt Lake Symphonic Winds and various pit orchestras for community musicals. She is also a private clarinet and piano teacher. Mrs. Ellis really enjoys teaching band, and especially enjoys teaching elementary band.

Mrs. Ellis lives in West Jordan with her husband and four children. She has a son in 8th grade at Joel P. Jensen Middle School, and twin boys in 5th grade at Terra Linda Elementary. She also has a daughter starting kindergarten this year at Terra Linda. She currently teaches elementary band at Terra Linda Elementary school, where she also serves PTA President. She really enjoys helping beginning students become confident performers.
